The STSA 62nd Annual Meeting will take place November 4-7, 2015 at Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resorts in Lake Buena Vista, FL. The Advance Program is now available.

The program features over 20 hours of premier educational content. Some highlights are as follows:

  • Surgical Motion Pictures on Wednesday, November 4 will include nine must-see video presentations.
  • A packed Postgraduate Program on Thursday, November 5 complete with mistakes/pitfalls case presentations; subspecialty breakout sessions with excellent invited speakers; and special talks from Robert H. Bartlett, MD (Ann Arbor, MI), Glenn J.R.   • Expert faculty members – Karen J. Brasel, MD (Portland, OR) and John W.C. Entwistle, III (Philadelphia, PA) – will debate whether or not family presence should be allowed during cardiopulmonary resuscitation during the Thursday, November 5 Ethics Debate.
  • The Friday morning General Session will include the Kent Trinkle Education Lectureship by John S. Ikonomidis, MD (Charleston, SC); the President’s Invited Lecture by David A. Fullerton, MD (Aurora, CO); and John H. Calhoon, MD‘s (San Antonio, TX) Presidential Address.
  • Saturday morning, November 7 will include important Coding, RUC, and SGR updates presented Jeffrey P. Jacobs, MD (St. Petersburg, FL); Peter K. Smith, MD (Durham, NC); and Alan M. Speir, MD (Fairfax, VA).
  • Erle H. Austin, MD (Louisville, KY) will deliver the Harold Urschel History Lectureship titled “C. Walton Lillehei – His Trials, His Triumphs, and the 200% Solution”  on Saturday, November 7.
  • A new session titled Recognition & Management of Cardiothoracic Surgical Misadventures will take place on Saturday, November 7. This session will provide expert instruction on how to overcome obstacles in the OR.

The Southern Thoracic Surgical Association is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The STSA designates this educational activity for a maximum of 21.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
