The Southern Thoracic Surgical Association (STSA) is a unique organization that offers its members unmatched opportunities for education, fellowship, and camaraderie. Membership.
There shall be six (6) categories of members: Active, Senior, Candidate, Pre-Candidate, Associate, and Honorary. All members, with the exception of Honorary Members, shall:
For healthcare professionals working in the Southern region including, but not limited to, physician assistants, perfusionists, nurses, nurse practitioners, practice administrators, data managers and other health care professionals who support and work directly with cardiothoracic surgeons.
For cardiothoracic surgery residents and fellows matched or enrolled in a thoracic surgery educational program accredited by the Residency Review Committee for Thoracic Surgery under the authority of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education that is within the Southern region.
For those enrolled in medical school or general surgery residency at the time of acceptance.
STSA Active Members whose practices have been limited because of disability, or who have reached the age of 70 years, may apply for Senior Membership. If you meet one or both of these qualifications, submit a written request to transition to Senior Membership status to the Membership Committee. Requests should clearly state why you qualify for Senior Membership (i.e. birthdate or written attestation of retirement due to disability) and can be mailed or e-mailed to the following address:
